The crowd was filled with excitement as Ontario Mills Mall produced a fantastic event showcasing the latest in trends and current fashion all available for purchase in their mall. With the addition of a new Last Call by Neiman Marcus, an updated Nordstrom Rack, and an incredible new sign signifying Ontario Mills as the new Fashion District of the Inland Empire, the timing was so right to put on a great event in celebration of the new renovations done to update the shopping center.
Hosted by Giuliana Racic, E! News Co-host and reality star, and sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Ontario, this event was poised at the height of LA fashion week and had all the appeal to bring out todays fashion into the public eye. Giuliana Racic, recently diagnosed with breast cancer and in remission since having surgery within the year has become a huge advocate for the cause and was sure to promote to the crowd what a blessing it is to have the support of the public for Breast Cancer research and treatment. The fashion show was held as a promotion for the brands and stores in the Ontario Mills mall as well as in support of breast cancer, since October is the month highlighting the cause.
The most beautiful of models were complimented by dozens of dazzling of brands all to be found in the Ontario Mills. The brands showcased in the show included Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Elie Tahari and tons more! The show was divided by trend and cleverly named by respective trend. The trends showcased included: 50 shades of Black, Grey Matters, Party Rock, Bright Now, Student Union, Borrowed from the Boy, and Darling Estate.
My personal favorite styles were found in the Darling Estate, 50 Shades of Black, and Student Union categories of the show. The Darling Estate section included equestrian inspired fashions showcasing the perfect fall boot, sweet country girly styles, and simple accessories that can be remixed into many different styles.
50 Shades of Black was just as it sounds – all black everything, my cup of tea! (Though really I don’t enjoy black tea, BTW – I like peppermint!) Showcasing brands like Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole, and DKNY, 50 Shades of Black had a variety of styles, of course all in black!
Student Union was a fun preppy take on the whole back to school trends – all the models looked like they had just walked off an Ivy League college campus – so fresh and pulled together. The brands featured in this section included the Gap, Nautica, and Levi – the best go to shops for a flawless preppy outfit.
Bright Now and Party Rock were definitely the most colorful of all the features with clothing by Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Calvin Klein, and Guess. This section showed us that fall isn’t all for neutrals and the deeper classic “fall colors”, but that neons and are all the rage for fall 2012.
This year, feminine tailoring in classic boyish cuts are taking the streets by storm. In Borrowed from the Boy, menswear styled for women was showcased at it’s best. Think tweed, blazers, and loafers.
Overall, the show was a hit, both with the public and the press – Ontario Mills Mall has really outdone themselves with a flawless translation of top trends for this fall 2012 season. Better than any LA Fashion Week show, they didn’t just show off the most fashionable pieces, but they made it completely attainable for everyone by using pieces that can be easily found in their shopping mall. Best part about the show? The mall was still open after the last models graced the runway! Right after this show I headed to H&M and bought the black and white beaded Peter Pan collar blouse showed in the Darling Estate part of the show.Now if only I can see a fashion show every time before I go shopping – such inspiration and excitement!
