Boots are a staple for anyone’s cold weather wardrobe and I’ve finally found my favorite pair for this season! I went shopping last week with my friend Jess at the Santa Anita Mall and we happened upon a “Spin the Wheel for Your Deal” at Steve Madden. I excitedly won a 30% off coupon that I put towards my purchase of tall black EMMITT boots by Steve Madden. Normally $99, I bought them for around $75 – I found this to be a reasonable price for a great pair of boots…after all they probably will last me at least  5 more seasons! They have a small heel of 1.5 inches and a high cuff that falls just below my knees – perfect for keeping out the rain and keeping me warm!

Work Worthy – Outfit Inspiration for the Office

Need some new ideas on how to freshen up your work wear? Here’s some amazing outfits you can find at some of my favorite shops – they incorporate season trends, realistic pieces that will keep you warm in the cold, and will also be able to be mixed and matched in with your current wardrobe to create looks that are work worthy.

Outfit #1 is comprised of staple pieces (the black pencil skirt, basic blazer, and pointed toe heel) and fun bits of trends. Polkadots are hot – and they aren’t just for little girls anymore, they’re all grown up when paired with an adult pencil skirt and colored blazer. Wearing a colored blazer to work means challenging the norm, so be careful how bright you go – depending upon your industry you may be able to get away with any range of colors, but for corporate America, stick to playing with royal blues, navies, plums, burgundies, and other jem-toned hues. Easily mix up your footwear by wearing a cap-toe heel that has a two-toned color in some basic colors that will also coordinate with another piece in your ensemble. Bows are cute and when paired with a professional outfit, they are a great way to let a little bit of your personality shine through.

New season, new coat (and a new haircut, yes I got bangs!!). It’s official, Los Angeles is definitely feeling like fall. Our trees may still be green and there’s no snow to speak of, but it’s fall alright. With the new season upon us, (and yes I mean the holiday season too; YAY!!!) I decided it was time to buy a new winter coat. I lucked out and found this classy black wool double breasted trench/peacoat with a fashionably oversized collar at Forever 21 while on my recent adventure to discover the new and improved shop at the Santa Anita Mall. (Did you hear it’s 3x as large as the Pasadena store??? OMG!) So get this –  right as I’m about to leave I spot this beautiful coat, price tag: $27.50 YES PLEASE. I get to the counter and it rings up as $13.99, now that’s amazing! Just another reason why I love Forever21! When I wear this coat I simply feel chic.

As classic as this fabulous color combo is, it has seen an incredible rise in this season’s fashion scene. Black and gold – the very essence of elegance in my book. (As I write this I’m wearing black and white head to toe (pointed toe that is – wearing my favorite BCBG heels)  matched with a bit of gold bling – pretty much my standard uniform these days.) The fall 2012 designer runways were filled with glorious looks in black and gold all day long. Did you see the Dolce & Gabbana show? Now that’s some major bling! See the rest of the article here…

Now I’m always looking for the best deal when it comes to keeping up with the trends. Fortunately, with use of the wonderful world of online shopping I can compare brands side by side to find the most bang for my buck. Here’s my top picks for where to find trendy designer flats at more affordable prices.I’m obsessed with flats lately; they’re a practical shoe that can complete almost any outfit with a bit of subtle style. Most recently I’ve noticed a rise in these three shoe trends: loafers, dalmatian print, and studs. Dalmatian print is a trend I’m seeing spread across all the garment sections this season – dalmatian bags, sweaters, skirts, and H&M even has skinny jeans in the new black and white animal print! I’ve yet to try this trend, but I think it could fit very nicely into my wardrobe. Oh if you’re having trouble deciding what to pair your dalmatian print with you should see my other blog post about mixing stripes and polkadots – it gives you 4 simple rules to follow when mixing these popular prints. Enjoy!
